¶ Course Information
The location for the December 2024 HAF League monthly outing will be Overland Park Golf Course south of downtown Denver, CO. Click on the logo if you'd like to visit their Web site.

¶ Notes
The League has never played Overland Park. It is the oldest continually operating golf course west of the Mississippi River. The designer was James Foulis. Foulis was originally from Saint Andrews, Scotland, and later settled in Chicago and did most of his design work there. Among Foulis' accomplishments, he won the second ever U.S. Open (and won $200!) and was a patent holder on the first ever 7-iron (called the "mashie-niblick"). After a flood in 1912, the course was redesigned by the legendary Donald Ross whose routing on the 15th, 16th and 17th holes still exist. Most recently, modern golf course genius Gil Hanse has worked on modifications. Overland Park's history is a veritable "who's who" of golf course architecture!
As might be expected, Overland Park is a typical turn-of-the-century parkland course. It has lots of mature trees, somewhat narrow fairways and small greens. Bunkers guard the entrance to every green but there are no fairway bunkers. There is only water on one hole (the par 5 3rd). The course is very flat and very walkable.
The practice facility includes a large driving range that requires hitting off mats this time of year. It also has a large putting green and a chipping are with a practice bunker. There is a good sized restaurant/bar in the clubhouse where we'll meet after the round to award prizes for any competition we have and swap stories.
Folks are asked to prepay for the outing in line with League policy. If someone responds to the outing invitation in the affirmative and subsequently determines they cannot attend, a full refund will be made if the outing coordinator is notified 48 hours in advance. A full refund will also be made if the outing is cancelled because of weather.

¶ 18Birdies Tournament Information
Tournament Code: TBD
Our league uses 18Birdies to allow us to manage scores during and after a round. We can also communicate with one another before (to RSVP or ask questions), during (trash talk!) and after the round through the app, upload pictures of our outing and other good things. We can see an ongoing leaderboard of how our fellow members are doing. Oh, and just for keeping track of scores, it's free! We highly encourage it. Use the Tournament Code in the Play section of the app to join the tournament and follow how your fellow golfers are doing on the course. Follow/friend your favorite player in the app to get notifications of round start and end and to be able to follow their progress.
