The location for the November 2024 HAF League monthly outing will be the Cheyenne Shadows Golf Course on Fort Carson, just south of Colorado Springs, CO. Click on the logo if you'd like to visit their Web site.

¶ Notes
The League last played Cheyenne Shadows in 2019. A few of the members have played it at other times since. It's another course designed by Dick Phelps, who designed many courses the League has played and enjoyed including Saddle Rock, The Meadows, West Woods and Foothills. Cheyenne Shadows is a parkland course with mature trees lining most of the fairways. It has some elevation changes but nothing too dramatic - the total elevation change among all holes about 400 feet. There isn't any water to speak of but there are some arroyos/ravines that will collect errant shots. Typical of Dick Phelps courses, course management (picking where to land shots in order to make the next shot better) is important.
The practice facility includes large grass driving range with several practice flags. It also has excellent putting and chipping greens and practice bunkers. The restaurant and snack shop are closed but a small selection of snacks will be available in the pro shop. If we do a competition of some kind we should be able to find a place to sit, award prizes and swap stories.
IMPORTANT: a visitor pass is required to get on Fort Carson. The application can be done in advance so all one has to do is pick up the pass at the gate before entering. The information is on their Web site but repeated below. The link for the application is here.
"Visitors can apply online for a pass from their computer or mobile device here. Visitors will receive a background check, and after entering their information, including a driver’s license or passport number, they will be notified if their pass is approved or denied. If approved, they can proceed to a kiosk at Visitor Control Center 1 for issuance of their pass.
If denied, please go to the Visitor Control Center front desk for assistance.
A sponsor is not required when applying for a pass online, but do require a valid purpose for visiting Fort Carson. This includes recreation and GOLF!"

¶ 18Birdies Tournament Information
Tournament Code: TBD
Our league uses 18Birdies to allow us to manage scores during and after a round. We can also communicate with one another before (to RSVP or ask questions), during (trash talk!) and after the round through the app, upload pictures of our outing and other good things. We can see an ongoing leaderboard of how our fellow members are doing. Oh, and just for keeping track of scores, it's free! We highly encourage it. Use the Tournament Code in the Play section of the app to join the tournament and follow how your fellow golfers are doing on the course. Follow/friend your favorite player in the app to get notifications of round start and end and to be able to follow their progress.
