¶ Notes
The March 2023 HAF League outing was played at Meadows Golf Club in Littleton, CO on 19 March 2023. Click on the logo if you'd like to visit their Web site. The Meadows Golf Club is a links style course in Littleton, up against the foothills. It is a municipal course of the Foothills Recreation District.
The weather was mostly cloudy for most of the round but the sun came out in the afternoon. The temperature was in the high 50s - very good for March. There was a breeze but not enough to make it cold or make the course play harder.
The Dick Phelps design is yet another challenging but fun one of his tracks in Colorado that the group has played and likes (including Cheyenne Shadows, South Suburban and Saddle Rock). The course was in excellent condition for March. The greens were greening up and balls rolled well without being obnoxiously fast. The fairway grass and fescue in the rough was still mostly dormant. The course would be even more challenging in the summer when the rough and leaves on the trees are grown in. Several balls that were played in this outing would be next to impossible to find and there will be blind approaches. There are some interesting changes in elevation on this course but it's still very pleasant to walk. Much of the group did walk the course. All in all, the group very much enjoyed this course and would be happy to play it again.
There is a large driving range, an extensive chipping/bunker practice area next to the range and a putting green near the first tee. The pro shop is on the small side but has typical needs covered. The restaurant had both quick service and good food. The drink selection was good. There is a large patio on which to sit that has views of the first and 10th tees and 18th green as well as the foothills. It was a very nice place to sit and swap stories after the round.
The League turned out well for this outing, especially for early season golf. There were 11 in total, 8 of whom participated in the $10 Peoria handicap stroke play competitiion that was held.
