For a November outing in Colorado, the weather couldn't have been better - about 50 degress and sunny. The course was in decent shape for the time of year. Greens were a little bumpy but otherwise still green and rolling fairly, even a little on the slow side. Rough and fairways had been allowed to go dormant.
The course is on the easier side compared to many courses the League plays. Fairways are generous and greens are mostly straightforward. The sand was actually sandy on most of the course - firm but not the concrete or pebbles on a lot of Colorado courses. The course is still pretty and holds up well after 125 years with lots of mature trees. It is very walkable and most of the group chose to walk on this day. It's a City of Colorado Springs municipal course and very affordable. Many members of the group have played it often and would again.
The driving range is short and only supports hitting off mats. The putting green had no holes cut which was inconvenient and it doesn't compare favorably with the greens on the course. The chipping area is very inconveniently placed near the third green. As practice facilities go, this one is one of the worst of the courses we've played. For future events, players will want to plan accordingly.
The four-ball competition was really fun. We started with 6 teams. Unfortunately, two players from two different teams couldn't complete the round. The other players for those teams (Jerry, Rob) were combined into a fifth team. There was only 9 strokes difference between the lowest and highest teams scores in the four-ball competition. The handicap scoring made it as competitive as we wanted. The teams with the lowest combined handicaps and the highest combined handicaps ended up tying for first! Light was getting fairly low by the time the group finished at about 5 hours. For future fall competitions, this should be taken into account - these tee times were about the latest the group would want to go.
The final scoresheets and payouts are available below. There is both an Excel format that shows all the formulae and a PDF version for those that don't have Excel.

This was a four-ball tournament. Players payed their $10 entry fee in cash but the electronic payment methods accepted for green fee payment would have worked, too.
Teams were given a scoresheet by the outing coordinator when they paid their entry fee. There were spaces on the scoresheet for each player to write their gross score for each hole (the number of strokes they made to hole out) and their net score (the gross score minus the player's handicap strokes). Each player's playing handicap (total number of strokes given for the round) was determined by the outing coordinator. It was set at 90% of the course handicap, which is the player's handicap index adjusted for course difficulty from the tees played. The information about the handicaps used may be found in the results scoresheet (see the Notes) for those that are curious.
Prizes, as a percentage of the total prize pool, were to be awarded as follows:
| 1st place | 2nd place |
|---|---|
| 70% ($84) | 30$ ($36) |
