The June 2024 HAF League outing will be on 23 June 2024 at Evergreen Golf Course in Evergreen, CO.
Their address is:
29614 Upper Bear Creek Rd.
Evergreen, CO 80439
Their phone number is (720) 865-3430
No one knows for sure who "designed" Evergreen Golf Couse. The first nine holes were built by Irish miners in 1929 and the course evolved from there. Colorado golf legend Babe Lind, who played in the 1947 Masters among many accomplishments as an amateur golfer, renovated the course in 1980s. Lind was Denver Golf's first director and served in that post for 31 years, during which he oversaw renovations on most of the golf courses. He supervised the construction of Overland Park and the 9 holes at Kennedy that bear his name.
Evergreen is a hybrid between a mountain course and a parkland course. It is short and plays to a par of 69. It's one of the easier courses the League will play. That said, it's in a beautiful place. It has some fun features like a blind approach on number 3 over a rock formation and some potentially driveable par 4s. It has very few bunkers that aren't in play for the most part. It doesn't have as many elevation changes as one might expect. While most players ride, the course should be walkable for those that want to do so.
The facility has a putting green but no other practice facilities. Their restaurant is closed between 3 and 4 when we'll be finishing. However, weekend rounds often take 4 1/2 hours, so timing may work well. Willow Creek restaurant is also only about 200 yards away so we may go there.

We're going to play a Quota tournament. Buy-in is $10. As always, folks are welcome to play along with the group without participating in the tournament.
In Quota, individuals or teams start with a certain number of points, based on handicap, then add points for achievements on the course. Each golfer begins the competition with points equivalent to 80% of their course handicap handicap, so golfer with a course handicap of 3 starts with 3 points and a 10 handicap golfer starts with 10 points. The winner is the player with the highest number of points. Points are awarded to golfers based on performance on the course and added to the starting point total. Points are awarded as follows:
Bogeys – 1 point
Pars – 2 points
Birdies – 4 points
Eagles – 8 points
The chart below shows the starting points for each player from each tee. Participants can play from any tee they choose but must play the same tee the whole round. Just let the outing coordinator which tee was chosen. Everything is based on each player's actual or estimated handicap index. If someone wants to participate and thinks their handicap index is wrong, please let the outing coordinator know.

Our league uses 18Birdies to allow us to manage scores during and after a round. We can also communicate with one another before (to RSVP or ask questions), during (trash talk!) and after the round through the app, upload pictures of our outing and other good things. We can see an ongoing leaderboard of how our fellow members are doing. Oh, and just for keeping track of scores, it's free! We highly encourage it. If you're viewing this on an iOS device, click the icon above to download the app!
Use the Tournament Code in the Play section of the app to join the tournament and follow how your fellow golfers are doing on the course. Follow/friend your favorite player in the app to get notifications of round start and end and to be able to follow their progress.
Please validate your attendance and notify the outing coordinator by text of any changes. We encourage bringing guests! If you would like to invite someone, please send the coordinator their cell phone number in order to communicate information with them and share this Web site with them for more information.
