The weather looked ominous all day but held out for us. It was somewhat breezy but not so much as to detract from the round.
The course was in typical shape for a Colorado public course for the time of year. Greens were fast and the fairways were dry. The greens were probably especially fast given the protracted dry spell over the preceding several weeks.
The layout of the course is great. One has to think their way around because very little on this course is straight. Unless playing from the tips or a short hitter there are few holes to hit driver. There are pretty vistas throughout much of the course and interesting elevation changes. It would have been even more enjoyable but the course superintendent chose some BRUTAL pin placements (corners of greens, on ridges, etc.), especially given how fast the greens were rolling. The group would definitely play this course again, hopefully when the superintendent is in a better mood...
It would be a long walk. It's more than a quarter mile between 9 and 10. Many of the other holes are also separated by a fair distance. Combine that with the considerable elevation changes and most people would probably enjoy riding more. The course was using a 90 degree rule which made riding a fairly easy choice. All the participants this time around rode.
The course has very nice practice facilities. The driving range is large (room for ~30). There are 2 chipping areas, a large putting green and practice bunker.
There is a nice restaurant and bar where some folks got together after the round.
