The folks that came enjoyed themselves although most found the course hard, especially the back 9. This was compounded by the fact that carts were required to stay on the path meaning a lot of walking around on the challenging terrain. Many felt they'd have been better off walking if riding carts were not going to be allowed on fairways. The cart rules will be something on which to check when we decide to play this course again.
The course was in excellent shape, the best most that had played it had ever seen it. The greens were smooth and rolled true. With the exception of the 7th hole, the fairways had nice grass. The rough was rough as always - a little long where it is mowed and long native grass otherwise. Much of the course is protected wetland where retrieving a ball is impossible. John Allen sacrificed a bunch of balls to the wetland...
The chipping and putting greens are in good shape (if small-ish). The practice green rolled like the greens on the course, always a plus. The driving range is short and requires hitting off mats but is good enough for a warmup. The pro shop basically sells apparel, with a small selection of balls and not much else. The bar and restaurant have fairly standard golf course fare (with some killer views).
Surprisingly, there was a beverage cart out on the course. John Allen, who plays the course frequently, noted that he'd never seen one there. That may have been because there had been a tournament earlier in the day. This will be another thing on which to check next time we play there.
The weather was cloudy almost all day. It only sprinkled for a couple of minutes and only got windy for a few minutes. The clouds cooled things down. All in all, the weather was nice.
Since we couldn't have a barbecue at John Allen's house due to the illness of his wife, MaryLee, several people in the group congregated at Peak View BBQ and Taphouse in Woodland Park. The food was good and the company was great. The link to the restaurant has been left for future reference.

A best ball was attempted but only one hole was won by Mitch Leitner. No prizes were awarded (but should have been). That's John Allen's fault. We'll be better organized for future outings.
