¶ Notes
Desert Hawk at Pueblo West was designed by Johnny Bulla, a professional golfer who played in the 1940s and 1950s and was a contemporary and friend of Hall of Famer Sam Snead. He designed a handful of courses in Colorado and Arizona. The League last played the course in January 2023. We're going back for the same reasons we went in the first place - warmer weather. The course was in good shape when last we played, especially for winter. The course isn't very hard but it's got some mature trees and some elevation changes to make it interesting. The price is also great to compensate for winter course conditions. This is a very walkable course for those that like to do so.
The facility has a full-length driving range with mats, a putting green and a chipping area. There is a restaurant and bar at the clubhouse where we'll gather after, share stories and award prizes from any competition we have.

¶ Competition Format
We'll be out of the posting period for handicap purposes so can play fun team formats. As always, competitions are optional. Folks that don't want to participate should say so when RSVPing for the outing. We'll decide on competition depending on participation and interest. If we get four or fewer playing, we'll try a "break" challenge, playing a scramble and trying to beat a chosen score (e.g. "break 75"). If we get more, we'll play modified alternate shot. If we don't have enough interest from the participants we'll just play a casual, typical stroke play round without a competition.

¶ 18Birdies Tournament Information

Our league uses 18Birdies to allow us to manage scores during and after a round. We can also communicate with one another before (to RSVP or ask questions), during (trash talk!) and after the round through the app, upload pictures of our outing and other good things. We can see an ongoing leaderboard of how our fellow members are doing. Oh, and just for keeping track of scores, it's free! We highly encourage it.
